Starting 2019 in style!
Happy New Year to all our ladies, we hope it proves to be a good year for you. We started the year off with our first meeting at the DoubleTree by Hilton on Ferensway last week. It is a lovely venue, and we were made to feel very welcome by the staff. We were given a talk about the hotel’s facilities, and events coming up in 2019. We welcomed 3 new ladies and we hope they will continue to come to our meeting when they are able to.
All our meetings start with an introduction to everyone around the table, which gives us a chance to meet any new members or refresh our memories if we’ve temporarily forgotten someone’s name 🙂
Jo Watson Davies
Our first speaker was copywriter Jo Watson Davies who gave us a very inspirational and engaging talk about her life and career, and how she ended up doing what she’s doing. From a very negative experience in her school life, she has gone on to achieve great things.
She gave us a useful tip about the Pratfall effect, which we’re all going to try and use in our marketing.
Finally, Jo introduced us to her latest venture – an early readers storybook.
Stuff And Nonsense is a beautifully written and illustrated book aimed at pre-schoolers and infant school age children and is full of rhymes and engaging text. Contact her if you’d like to order a copy.
We had a mid-meeting break to enjoy the hotel’s hospitality, coffee and a variety of teas, and the delicious cookies on offer. The room we were able to use was nice and warm, and we were supplied with fresh water, sweets, notepads and pens. This break gives us time to catch up with everyone, and to meet the new members who had joined us.
Maureen Foers OBE
Our second speaker was the former chair of the group Maureen Foers OBE. She was kind enough to share with the group her interest in spirituality and her group Celestial Explorers. She spoke about the group, its members and what its aims are, and gave us an insight into the subjects covered in the group, including Past Life Regression, and Maureen shared her own personal experience with this, which was fascinating. If you would like more details about the group please contact Maureen or head over to the website – celestialexplorers.co.uk
The meeting ended with a chance for the ladies to talk about anything they want to share with the group such as events, special offers etc.
We had a very enjoyable meeting despite the lower than normal numbers, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the next meeting in February at Craven Park.
